This is the original painting created by Will Pannos for the band Late to Launch as an album cover. They requested me to animate it for them.

I used Photoshop to separate the layers and mask out the necessary parts. I then used the clone stamp tool to fill in the blank spaces behind the tentacle, rocket ship, and text. After that, I exported everything to After Effects to add motion and glowing effects.

The band also requested a version of the painting in a 9:16 ratio, which they could add to Spotify. To create this, I extended the painting using the clone stamp tool in Photoshop. I tried to make the whole background seamless.

To provide the band with various options, I created a version with a wavy background. I used the bend tool in After Effects to achieve this look. My aim was to make it appear as if the tentacle was causing the space background to move.
