Bubbles

Visual Poetry

It is interesting how the closer you get to an object, the harder it becomes to see. I've always found macro photography fascinating. The goal was to create visual poetry, and something about this audio particularly caught my attention.

My partner and I conducted an experiment in macro photography, using a DSLR camera with a 100mm Macro Lens to record all the videos. We created different types of bubbles by experimenting with various mixtures of soaps, oils, honey, and other items. For the lighting, we played around with different techniques, including drop shadows and LED lights. We noticed that the most effective results were achieved by using a direct bright bulb under a clear dish, and a second dimmer light on the side. To absorb extra light, we placed a black mat behind the bubbles.

We used various techniques to edit the clips, such as track mats, masking, extracting, color corrections, and more in After Effects. The audio clips we used was pieced together from a 1970s educational film about the sensory world.
