When I created Building 47, the first step involved brainstorming ideas for different rooms and characters and how they could interact with each other. Then, I sketched out the characters and room layouts in Photoshop. After finalizing the drawings in Photoshop and organizing everything into layers, I imported the characters into After Effects to create looping animations. I used puppet pins, masking, tracking, and various effects to add movements and subtle details. Finally, I exported everything as TARGA sequences, one with alpha only and one with RGB.

I created all the 3D components in Cinema 4D. I sourced most of the 3D models and textures from free-to-use websites or purchased them. I designed all the layouts and aimed to make the rooms look as realistic as possible to make the 2D characters stand out more. I imported the characters as sequences and added them to 2D planes that could be easily adjusted. I used different forms of lighting in each room to give them a unique feel, along with lighting outside the building to enhance the scene. The neon sign was created using a sign generator that was adjusted to better fit my needs.

The final step was to create camera movements and then to export. Everything was rendered using Redshift, and then it was put back into After Effects to create the final video. All the audio was sourced from free-use sites and layered/adjusted using After Effects. I tried to create an immersive audio experience with subtle sounds to bring a more realistic feel to the project.
